英文中的五官习语,你知道多少呢?

五官是我们身体不可分割的部分,在语言文化中有很多关于五官的习语或成语流传下来。汉语中有出口成章”、“隔墙有耳”、“一目十行”、“迫在眉睫”、“仰人鼻息等成语。那英语中有哪些有关于五官的有趣习语呢?一起来学习吧!

1. Mouth

Born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth汉语中有句话含着金汤匙出生,而英语也有用来形容一个人生于富贵之家的习语:Born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth 。例如:I’ m not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but I will work really hard to make my dreams come true. (我虽不是含着金汤匙出生的,但我会努力工作,让我的梦想成真。

Put one’s foot in one’s own mouth Sorry, I really put my foot in my mouth at the wedding. 对不起,我真的在婚礼上说错话了。这个习语用夸张的手法来形容一个人对自己说出的话后悔的样子。

Someone’ s heart is in one’s mouth 汉语中形容一个人紧张时常说:心提到了嗓子眼。英语中这个习语也常表示提心吊胆紧张的样子。一起来看个例句吧:My heart was in my mouth when I opened the letter. 我打开那封信时心都快跳出来了。


2. Ear

Someone’s ears are burning   a person thinks that other people are talking about them, especially in an unkind way 感到有人议论,尤指说闲话而耳朵发热。一起来看个例句吧Someone must be talking about me because my ears are burning.我的耳朵发热了,肯定有人在背后议论我。)

Go in one ear and out the other.  If you say that something you hear goes in one ear and out the other, you mean you quickly forget it,即一只耳朵进另一只耳朵出。例如:Everything I tell them just goes in one ear and out the other.我无论对他们说什么都只被当作耳边风。

3. Nose

4. Eye
