徐素云

本科毕业于中国地质大学(武汉)英语语言文学专业,获文学学士学位;研究生毕业于西安交通大学外国语言学与应用语言学专业,获文学硕士学位。现任西安交通大学城市学院外语系副主任,兼任英语类专业教研室主任,副教授职称。

主讲“高级英语”、“英语学术论文写作”、“英语公共演说与辩论”课程,曾获学院“优秀教师”,以及“优秀教学成果一等奖”,多次指导学生参加“外研社杯”、“China Open”等省级、国家级英语辩论赛、英语演讲赛获奖。主要研究方向为英语思辨能力、跨文化交际、国家形象。主持省级科研课题2项、校级科研教改课题4项,参加国家社科基金项目1项、省级科研项目5项。公开发表期刊论文8篇,国际会议论文2篇。编有《大学英语阅读教程》、《大学英语读写教程》、《英语语用语法》等教材5部,翻译《中华医药卫生文物图典》3卷。

Philosophyof English learning and teaching:

College students have experienced elementary English learning inprimary and middle school, are moving toward intermediate learning, and willlaunch advanced learning. Each phase is featured with differential focuses—lexicaland syntactical progress for the elementary, textual analysis for theintermediate, and cultural and critical thinking for the advanced. In proceedingtoward a higher level, a learner should exert the simple but sincere practice:intensively reading, especially reading classics.

As an English teacher for English majors, I hold students as thecenter and the leading role in class and I act as an instructor, an organizer,and a facilitator. No matter what tasks they are assigned, students always getprogress in their language and communication. Teaching is interactive anddynamic. A teacher should be adaptable for any change in students, textbooks,environment, and even emotion, while insisting on the core and the basics of acourse.
